My Opinion- Disagree with cryonics
“Humans must learn to die for the sake of the future” (3)
- Interferes with religious understandings of life and death (3)
- Is it ethical to give unrealistic hope when the technology does not yet exist?
- Interference with evolution (3)
- Disrupts ambiance, historical context, and associations (3)
- Effects personal development (3)
- Behavioral variations of individual and population (3)
- Disruption of age proportions in population (3)
- Effect world population/ need to limit birthrate (3)
- Increase of mentally and physically unhealthy individuals due to procedure (3)
Would society accept a moral responsibility to see that such defective persons are cared for until they die naturally?
Cryonics could enhance or eliminate human freedom (3)
- Currently have right to act upon and dispose of their body as they wish (3)
- The right to die could be violated (3)
- Focus on healthcare instead of other values (3)
- Questions pertaining to property and family inheritance (Cryopreservation of germ cells & embryos has already raised) (3)
Injustice to humankind
- Only the wealthy can afford the exotic procedure of cryonics, which allows the basic needs of many to go unattended (3)
Minimum $28,000 one-time fee due at time of death- verification perfusion and long term storage (2)
Equates $30 a month insurance policy
Suggested insurance policy of at least $200,000- cover possible future price increases or additional future services (3)
